The Mexican President, Vicente Fox, and the Governor of Sonora, Eduardo Bours, have signed an agreement to construct and modernize seven roads in the state. These roads include Hermosillo, Ciudad Obregón, Santa Ana-Altar-Pitiquito, Costera, Golfo de Santa Clara-Puerto Peñasco.
The government will also modernize the roads that connect Navojoa-Álamos, Hermosillo-Bahía de Kino and Yaqui-Mayo. The total investment will be of 2,636 millions of pesos and will cover 513 kilometers of road, which will take place during this year 2005 and the following. The act will benefit 1 million 608 thousands of inhabitants, which represents around 72% of the total population of the state.
