The state of Sonora is characterized because of its high temperatures even in winter, that is why hundreds of visitors from the US and Canada come here every November & December to spend a while and have some rest in the beautiful beaches and cities colonial towns of Sonora.
This event is celebrated as a tradition by many of the municipalities of Sonora and this year was not the exception.
They call them snowbirds because of two main reasons, one because of their generally white hair and the second one because of the distant and cold places where they come from (Oregon, Montana and Chicago among others).
Among the most visited places are Puerto Peñasco, Bahía de Kino and San Carlos, and also the cities of Hermosillo, Obregon, Alamos and Cananea.
It was the personnel of the Tourism Secretary of Nogales whom received the first Caravan of snowbirds the 24 of November and gave them assessment for the immigration and custom paperwork.
This year the Sonora people expect to receive warmly the hundreds of tourist that every year crosses the border to spend a great vacation season in Sonora and its great towns and cities.
