Yecora is located in the mountains
at the southeastern part of the state of Sonora.
Its boundaries are:
* Eastern boundary: State of Chihuahua
* Northern boundary: Sahuaripa
* Northwest boundary: Onavas
* Southeastern boundary: Rosario
* Western boundary: Suaqui Grande
History
In 1673, Jesuit Missionary Alonso Victoria founded
a town named San Idelfonso de Yecora. Later, it
was called La Trinidad until 1916 when they changed
the name to Yecora. In 1930, it was incorporated
to the municipality of Sahuaripa and reinstated
on April 8th, 1935.
