Nogales - Festivities

It is traditional, since 1941 that the National Chamber of Commerce of Nogales organizes each year the popular “Fiestas de Mayo” (May Festivities) in order to raise the patriotic spirit of the city.

These festivities coincide with the Batalla de Puebla (Puebla Battle) celebration on May 5th (1862). It is not exactly a fair what it is organized, however, there is a queen election in which candidates from both twin cities Nogales, Sonora, and Nogales, Arizona participate, resulting then, an international event. There are allegoric cars, as well as cock fighting during the celebrations.
