May initiates with great enthusiasm since the first day. One of the most important celebrations in Cananea is the “Festival Cultural de las Fronteras” (Border Cultural Festival), organized by Casa de la Cultura and sponsored by Hermosillo’s council and the Instituto Sonorense de Cultura (Sonoran Cultural Institute).

The festival counts with contests, dance, singing, painting, and theater workshops, in where local and foreign participants assist.

In July, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce organize cattle, industrial, commercial, and hand-crafted expositions, in where local and foreign artists participate and the best dances and music may be found.
