Cananea has a semi-warm semi-humid climate, with an average maximum temperature of 23.5ºC from June to September, and an average minimum temperature of 7.4ºC in December and January. The annual average temperature is of 15.3ºC.

Rainy season presents in summer from July to September, receiving an annual average precipitation of 545 millimeters. In February, March, and April there may be strong frosts, hailstorms, and occasionally snowfalls. In winter, rainfalls are not so intense as in summer, but they last a longer time, and are called “equipatas.”
