Sonora is located in the northwestern
part of Mexico, just below the state of Arizona
in the United States, constituting the second
biggest state of Mexico and one of the most
diverse in many aspects. Sonora has great
tourist attractiveness due to its spectacular
and dramatic geography that merges desert
and sea. An antique trace of the cultures
that once developed in the state, still live
in the souls of the inhabitants of our region.

The Colonial remains of every mission Father
Kino raised are testimonial of the strength and
braveness of the settlers and missionaries who
enriched Sonora’s history.
Sonora’s destinations include mountains,
valleys, and sea. Within the main attractions,
tourists may visit the city of Hermosillo, beautiful
beaches like Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point),
San Carlos, and Kino Bay; as well as Yécora,
and colonial Alamos. These main destinations have
plenty of tourist activity; however there are
more places to visit not so explored by foreigners
that you will find through this portal. There
are also beautiful towns in which time seems to
have stopped, great cities full of life and activities,
and all kind of festivities and events. Great
tours across Sonora, such as the Father Kino route,
the river towns upstream the Sonora River, the
majestic south of Sonora, among other interesting
villages are worth of visiting.
Use our forums as a reference, read the articles
of our travelers, take a look at our gallery,
and you will know that Sonora is even greater
of what you have ever imagined.
